Arsenal Legend Admits Fear over Tottenham’s Progress

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has admitted that he is fearful of Tottenham finally ending the disappointing run against Arsenal by finishing up to the gunners this season.

Spurs have not finished above Arsenal since the 1995 season. However, they have steadily made progress under the regime of Mauricio Pochettino to the extent where they are now considered as title contenders. Henry says that the club cannot be in a better position in every aspect.

Spurs are building a new 60,000 seater stadium at a cost of £ 800 million. This will enable them to compete with the clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool, who have much bigger stadiums than the White Hart Lane. The White Hart Lane is one of the smallest grounds in the top flight with a capacity of just over 30,000. Henry also reckons that the club have been able to secure their best players on long-term contracts.

The presence of Champions League football has enabled the club to persuade players like Harry Kane and Dele Alli to stay at White Hart Lane rather than consider offers from the likes of Manchester United or Real Madrid. The results during the weekend meant that Spurs have been able to open a six-point advantage over Spurs with 11 matches remaining.

Henry says that he is now fearful of Spurs finishing above Arsenal.“Their future looks bright. They have all their best players on long-term deals, which sends a good signal to potential signings. The new stadium is coming on. They play good football.Henry believes they must start winning trophies to reflect their improvement, and highlighted the FA Cup – which Arsenal remain in also – as a realistic target. To attract the best players, Spurs need to show they are winning things too,” said Henry. Arsenal still have to travel to White Hart Lane in the penultimate home game for Spurs.
