YOUTH FOOTBALL KICKING OFF IN LUTON

THERE may not have been much football played in Luton’s parks lately due to the inclement weather, but Picton’s solicitors and Luton Town are already scouting for teams to sign up for youth football tournament when the weather improves, so they can hopefully spot the next Lionel Messi.

Schools and clubs from across the three counties have already been invited to take part in the Hatters Cup allowing youngsters aged between seven and 15 to compete on the hallowed Kenilworth Road turf.

The tournament, which is expected to feature around 144 teams from 50 schools and clubs takes place on May 14 and 15.

It is run by Luton Town and sponsored by Luton-based solicitors Pictons.

David Hoskins, Luton Town Football Club’s commercial manager: “The Hatters Cup is one of the highlights of the year and many of our team players come in to meet the kids. Schools and clubs across the region really get behind the event because football is such a passion for so many young people.”
